La cabane a cette capacité de nous tenir tout de suite en éveil, comme les cabanes des mythes ou celles qu’évoque la littérature, elle est un dispositif à rêver, à imaginer, à créer, avec ce que le rêve peut nous offrir de merveilleux et de divin. Extra-cabane a été pensée comme un environnement vivant à l’intérieur, grouillant proche de la vivacité des insectes. Extérieurement elle semble venir tout droit d’un univers de science-fiction, une cabane vaisseau extra-terrestre, relatant d’un nouvel espace-temps propre a elle-même. Objet non identifié, atterri là, ou émergé sans se camoufler, une fois notre regard posé sur elle, c’est nous, l’élément étranger. C’est un objet sonore pour celui qui sait tendre l’oreille. On l’écoute de l’extérieur, mais on ne la comprend pas. Son langage ne nous est pas familier, il va falloir l’apprivoiser.

Extra Cabin (2004)

The cabin has the ability to keep us immediately on the alert, like the cabins in myths or those evoked by literature. It’s a device to dream, to imagine, to create, what the dream can offer us of wonderful and divine. The Extra-Cabin was conceived as coming straight from a sci-fi movie set, like a vessel. Unidentified object, landed there without hiding from the rest, a cabin that we don’t penetrate physically. No alien will come out of it, it opens to the world by listening. Thus we become, the foreign element, the one on the outside. Anyway, we don’t understand its language! Is it an autistic cabin? Only the person inside understands its world. It’s an escape from everyday life, a breakaway into fantasy as strange as familiar. A fleeting moment or an eternity, an experiment.
